Nutrition and Preventive Health

“Rodas de conversa” (conversation circles) are held every two weeks divided by age groups: adult women (40 years and older/mothers of older children); young mothers (mothers of children between 0 to 5 years of age); young women and teenagers (from 12 to 17/18 years who are not mothers yet). Conversations address their needs in sexual and reproductive health; promotion oof health seeking behaviors and sanitation and hygiene. After and sometimes during the conversations, women learn from each other about nutrition, nutritious food combinations and good practices of food preparation. COVID 19 disrupted these activities so 2020 and 2021 did not have any of these gatherings. However, activists would visit served households. At the present, NGUNI has 71 households that are being served, representing close to 360 people, of whom around 170 are children below the age of 15.
